Title: DESIGNING FALL PROTECTION SYSTEMS INTO STEEP PITCH ROOFS FOR WORKER SAFETY.
Permanent fall protection systems are regularly seen on flat roofs (where maintenance workers have sound footing and can walk easily) but are rarely considered on steep pitch roofs, although OSHA requires fall protection. Most roofers do not have the gear or training to install fall protection anchors safely and properly. Falls from roofs continue to be a leading cause of death and injury in the workplace.
Course Description:
This interactive on-site course builds student fall protection awareness and hazard prevention skills by problem solving 4 steep roof safe access and maintenance challenges from photos/projects submitted by the students. Each student is required to submit a steep roof photo or drawing for class discussion and safe maintenance evaluation. Class size is limited to six students.
