The V-18 meets the 5,000 pound load requirement when the distance from the anchor connecting ellipse to the top of our steel triangular mounting bracket is 6.5" or less.  Choose the V-24 if this distance is greater than 6.5" and less than 10".  Contact us for the V-30 option if the distance is above 10" but less than or equal to 14.5".

The photos (below) were taken during an installation.  The dormitory was being renovated and (23) V-18's were installed for permanent fall protection.  Most of the installations were done from the attic side, however a handful were done from the top side because the conduit and sprinkler systems were in the way on the attic side.

GREAT THINGS FOR YOU TO KNOW:

One bracket style may work well for many different roof pitches, however, picking the bracket that matches your roof pitch will give you the easiest installation for both rafters and trusses.

Yes, we do travel and perform installations when asked.
Yes, we can work with your team on-site until they are comfortable and want to take over the installation.

We want your installation to be easy.  In the real world, boards are not straight,  rafters are not plumb and things get in the way.
We've done this a bunch, so ... contact us if you have questions.  We're happy to help.

1.  Your anchor should be plumb.

2.  It needs to extend through the ridge enough so your connector moves well in the anchor without binding.  As with all anchor systems, your connectors must be inspected for compatibility with the V-18 anchor and your workers should be trained.

3.  The anchor is rated for 2 users (if both workers are utilizing 900 pound load limiting lanyards).  If a worker is using an 1800 pound load limiting lanyard, then the anchor is rated for only a single user.

4.  The anchor point is intentionally designed for one connector to keep 3 workers from connecting to it ... because if they can ... they will.

5.  5,000 pound rated slings may be used for attaching incompatible connectors or for utilizing the V-18 with two workers (who are using 900 pound load limiting lanyards.). Talk to your safety professional, contact us, or even better ... have your safety professional contact us to learn more.

6.  If your pitch is greater than a 12/12, you will need to purchase the custom option.

7.  If your anchor connector point extends greater than 6.5" above the top of the anchor bracket, the load rating of the anchor decreases.  Use our V-24 (5/8" thick) for distances up to 10" and our V-30 (3/4" thick) for distances up to 14.5" to maintain a 5,000 pound load rating in any direction.  Roof sheathing, materials and ridge vents thicknesses vary.  You may contact us to lay out your specific situation to be sure the anchor will work for your situation.

8.  If you need us to make special flashing pieces, we can do that.  There are simply too many variations in roof materials, pitches and ridge styles for us to stock items.

9.  If you expect to load the anchor parallel to the ridge or use an engineered one person horizontal lifeline, you must add wood blocking per our instructions, or our custom easy angle reinforcements to distribute the load.

Last man down continuous fall protection has arrived.
Rope friendly edges for the final rappel and a "Brass" finish for historic properties.
Rated for 5,000 pounds in any direction.
Follow our blocking installation diagram for loading perpendicular to the rafter or truss.  This is necessary for meeting OSHA's 5,000 pound load requirement for potential fall hazards perpendicular to the rafter or truss major axis orientation, or with engineered horizontal lifeline systems.
Wood blocking or steel struts are added to distribute forces and give the anchor a 5,000 pound rating in any direction (parallel to the ridge to be suitable for horizontal life lines).

No. 1 citation issued by OSHA is Lack of Fall Protection.

No. 2 cause for workers compensation claims is contusions and the average cost of a medically consulted workplace injury is $48,000.
