V-5/V-8/v-18/v-24 Historic PERMANENT ANCHOR PROJECTS

Architects and building owners desire workers have life safety roof anchors, and on historic projects, they demand the anchors are compatible with the historic properties aesthetics.

Whether the roof is slate, standing seam metal, flat lock metal, or some other material, our anchors are designed to discreetly compliment the beauty of each building.

Slator-USA anchors are chosen for:

1.  Simplicity.  No welds or moving parts that may fail or require inspections.
2.  Strength.  3/8" - 3/4" stainless steel.  These anchors are meant to be used and loaded, unlike some roof anchors which are meant for fall arrest only and deform if used.
3.  Aesthetics.  The anchor has a copper flashing plate and a solid bronze cap which blends in nicely with the roof.  It is about the same size as a snow guard.  There is no rubber or plastic to degrade over time and there is no ugly pole protruding through a beautiful roof.  The pole style anchor works nicely on flat roofs, but is terrible on pitched roofs.
4.  Zero maintenance.
5.  Safe and easy inspections of the anchor system from the attic instead of climbing onto the roof ... designed to eliminate any need for periodic load testing which often accompanies flat roof anchor systems with buried/hidden fasteners.
6.  Fasteners are either 3/8" or 1/2" grade 8 bolts that go through the roof rafter.  Simply select the proper length bolt for the width of the roof rafter.  Our fasteners are inspectable and easily replaceable.  They are not buried through the roof sheathing and into the rafter.  Anchors that install with fasteners that are buried and installed from the top are not inspectable and therefore every user has to trust that the anchor was installed with proper fasteners and that the rafter and sheathing are in good condition.  That can be risky and defeats the purpose of a permanent anchor.
7.  Flexibility in design to suit the specific roof rafter/truss/girder situation, as well as the variations in decking thicknesses.  Roofing systems constantly change.  Our system can be designed to meet unique situations.  Our anchors are manufactured by an American owned ISO 9001:2015 and AS 9100:D company.

Our anchors are in conformance with OSHA 1926 and 1910 when loaded according to the installation procedures.
The V-5 and V-8 blend in perfectly into historical buildings, whether the roof is slate, Spanish tile, or copper.
The V-24 permanent ridge anchor was selected for the historic Waterbury State Office Complex.

HISTORIC MARYLAND STATE HOUSE

Built in 1772, the framing and roof sheathing in the Maryland State House is a carpentry marvel. We modified our V-8 anchor design to accommodate the unique framing and roof design. The flashing system blends in perfectly with the historic building.

5 REASONS ARCHITECTS are SPECIFYING V-5/V-8 PERMANENT ANCHORS
how many anchor points to service a roof?
common sense selection of permanent roof anchors
 Seven Facts:
  • Roofs and buildings require regular maintenance.
  • OSHA requires that employees not be exposed to fall risks greater than six feet.
  • Falls continue to be a leading cause of death and injuries in the workplace.
  • Working at heights without proper fall protection exposes the worker to unneccessary risks and the owner and contractor to substantial fines and potential lawsuits.
  • Installing and removing temporary anchors each time a roof is serviced exposes workers to greater fall risks than connecting to a properly installed permanent anchor.
  • Installing temporary anchors adds wear and tear to the roof with each installation.
  • Workers are much more likely to utilize fall protection practices if the anchors are already in place.
